Since 2020, the outbreak of the epidemic has not only continuously enhanced public health awareness, but also began to promote the continuous development of the medical device industry. According to the enterprise survey data, as of February 2021, there were 2.707 million medical device related enterprises in China, and 606100 newly registered enterprises in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 44%. From January to February this year, it continued to maintain rapid growth, with 74200 newly registered enterprises, a year-on-year increase of 99%. It is obvious from the above data that capital is optimistic about the development of medical device industry. In this context, the industry believes that the development of medical device market may usher in a new round of outbreak.
In fact, in recent years, frequent policies on encouraging industry development and strengthening industry supervision are indeed creating great development opportunities for the medical device industry. For example, in August 2019, the State Food and Drug Administration issued the notice on expanding the pilot work of the medical device registrant system, which clearly will accelerate the innovative development of the medical device industry; In February 2020, the state also proposed at a meeting to increase the support for the R & D of reagents, drugs and vaccines, accelerate the development of biomedicine, medical equipment, 5g network and industrial Internet, and promote the construction of “new infrastructure”.
It is generally believed in the industry that with the support of more favorable policies and driven by factors such as population aging and growth of per capita disposable income, the medical device industry can still maintain approximate growth in the future. It is expected that the scale of China’s medical device market may exceed trillion yuan in 2023. At the same time, more medical device enterprises with high growth may also emerge.
